I bought the book ''Contagious'' by Scott Sigler this weekend at Borders. Does anyone know if you need to read ''Infected'' first?

I would recommend reading, or listening to, "Infected" first. If you don't have the print version, you can listen to it over at Podiobooks.Com. You can also purchase it at Amazon.Com.
FYI: Scott is a really cool guy. We were on a podcasting panel together at Baycon, 2007, since I'm also a Podiobooks author. Also, it was very cool finding a question about him here!
