I bought buddig beef in a package, is that the same as dried beef?

No. Budding Beef is basically lunch meat. Dried Beef has been dried out and is usually not ate on it's own. It's quite salty. I use Hormel Dried Beef in a glass jar when a receipe calls for dried beef.
