Good restaurants in New Orleans are easy. My favorite is Commander's Palace in the Garden District across the street from the Lafayette cemetery. The food is always sublime, & the prices are reasonable for such a high end place. Such notable chefs as Paul Prudhomme & Emeril Lagasse have gotten their starts there. 1403 Washington Ave.New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) http://www.mahalo.com/answers/food-and-drink/i-am-searching-for-some-good-restaurants-in-new-orleans899-8221
It has a little brother downtown on Canal called the Palace Cafe. It's a little brother by age only & fully lives up to its prefect. Make sure to get the turtle soup with sherry at either place!
Both of those restaurants are owned by the Brennan family who have been restaurateurs in NOLA for a generation. They own places all over town, & I've never had a bad meal from anything with their name on it.
Jumping away from the family monopoly, I'd also recommend
