Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

check in to systems like invisible fence. You can cover a line in the field and when crossing it cause a response. With the case of invisible fence it is a shock for your pooch, but doubt that would be what you are going for. You could make it count goals, or whatever else you want. Not sure how they make the wire below cause the circuit but sure probably small electric field. The systems are cheap so should be easy enough to duplicate cheaper.

As I am not a sports enthusiast, I am unfamiliar with some of the terminology. So I will just have to state my assumptions, an you can correct me if I am wrong.
Assumption 1: By "line" I assume you mean the line separating the endzones from the rest of the field.
Assumption 2: you want accuracy to less than the length of the ball
Just off the top of my head, One way of doing it would be to put a beacon either in the end zones, or in the ball. you would just need to determine how far it is from the receiver. however with consumer grade off-the-shelf parts, I think you would be lucky to get better than 10 foot accuracy. Another possibility would be to use some highly directional antennas placed on the line of interest. Again you have a problem of accuracy (probably +/-4foot or worse, dependent on range)

I'll have to give it more thought.

Okay, that clarifies some things, if It is going to be just the ball, and not someone holding it, look into a light fence type system, maybe a scanned laser beam, or columns of LEDs. If you use a light fence, you wouldn't even need to alter the ball.
