I am about to move to a new city and will have no TV and no Internet for over a week. What book(s) would you recommend

to keep me from going crazy?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Since moving is generally an exciting expierence, both physically and emotionally taxing, I would suggest not reading any heavy literature. The Shopoholic Series by Sophie Kinsella is a cute and humorous read; it is very easy to relate to the excitable, slighly zany protagonist. Also, even if you have read them before, The Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling is always very easy to get "lost" in. On a similar note, joining your new local library and checking the books they have in stock may be a good option. You will then most likely have a vast multitude of books at your fingertips, and will be able to read whatever strikes you at that particular moment. Also, if you want to bring a bit of nostalgia to your move, Oh The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Suess could be a sweet reminder of your childhood.

Good luck with your move!

I read Dan Brown books once when I had no option but to read, I am not much of a reader but I found his books very fast moving and quite entertaining.

...boy I hope somebody else answers and gives you a better suggestion :D

Only Dan Brown, I haven't read is Angels and Demons, usually I like to read the book before I see a movie, so I am going to put it at the top of my list. Usually I do blaze through his books fairly quickly. Thanks.

Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series; Heather Graham's Deadly Night, Deadly Harvest, Deadly Gift, The Island; Stef Ann Holm's "All That Matters"; The Host, by Stephenie Meyer; and Shana Abe is a great author, as well.

Don't Panic! I have the solution. I would love to recommend more than a few, in fact I have hundreds of books that I would love everyone to read, since I am sure that you don't have a couple of days to check my list, I will just give you the names of the ones that I have read more than a couple of times (yes they are that good). First off I would love to recommend Twilight, it is a great book series and you won't want to put them down. Next would be Posion Study by Maria V. Snider (I'm sorry if I have misspelled her name), as well as Magic Study and Fire Study, they are a complete series and well worth the read. I have also recently read Nora Roberts book called Charmed and Enchanted, it was a wonderful book about the power of love and magic, it's a great story. Okay next book would be Bram Stoker's Dracula (one of my favorites) really interesting story about the first Vampire. I would like to continue but I am afraid that my list will be too long, if you still want a few more names I would be happy to provide them, I myself am a book worm and find little use for the tv, internet however, I will pray for you. Hope this helps.

Actually the only TV show I watch is Medium, and Mahalo is my main Internet interest now, I just wanted to emphasize I am about to drop off the communication grid for a few days. I am adding the "Study series" to my list right now. Thanks.
