I am a big fan of the band Disturbed. Can you name some other bands with a similar sound I might be interested in?

For those unfamiliar, YouTube has quite a few of their videos available.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

OK, this no edit button is killing me!

Hi krusheasy,
That's a good list, but unfortunately I am a connoisseur of "connoisseur" metal.
Any newer bands or bands that might have slipped by without my noticing?
By the way, I have lived in Japan for 7 years so "new" is a relative term ; )

I have a hard time keeping up with all the new group myself. I would suggest checking out who tours with bands you like. The warp tour for example might be a good place to find similar sounding artists.

I found one you might like on the tour list called A Day To Remember

I know nothing about that kind of music, but I thought I'd suggest last.fm.

If you don't know it, it's a pretty good music discovery service where you can find artists similar to ones you like, and people with similar music tastes to yours.

@krusheasy's list is a good start. Here are two more :

One of my favorite bands in that particular rock style is System of a Down ( http://www.mahalo.com/system-of-a-down ). They have a sound similar to Disturbed.

Rage Against the Machine ( http://www.mahalo.com/rage-against-the-machine )

I have not used last.fm. but have you tried Pandora? I have found many new bands (new to me anyway) that i would never had thought to listen to. Pandora uses different qualities of the music you tag as "like" to select suggestions you might like.

i made a station on my pandora for Disturbed and these were the first three bands that came up:
Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Godsmack,

No Problem. It's a good option for others.

Yes, that is correct. I would love to use Pandora, but it's blocked.
And the workarounds are too much of a pain. But thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Pandora doesn't work outside the US.

I believe the asker is in Japan.
