I actually don't like Starbucks' coffee. Do you?

In my opinion, Starbucks burns their coffee beans by roasting them too long, almost like espresso roast. I like coffee beans normal roast, so that they are golden brown, but not dark brown and especially not oily black. In my opinion, the best tasting coffee beans are grown on the Hawaiian island of Kona. What kind of coffee tastes best to you? Do you buy whole bean coffee and grind it yourself? I admit that anymore I just buy a can of ground coffee and call it a day.

I live in Seattle, so we definitely have our pick. When I actually pay for coffee from a store, I always get lattes. I have heard Starbucks drip is gross, but I can make drip myself. As far as lattes go, I do like Starbucks. It's a good tasting cup of coffee, and at Starbucks, I don't get any snotty barista attitude, I know exactly how it's going to taste because they all get trained the same way, and if I don't like it for some reason, I know it's their company policy to immediately make me a new one.

Going to independent coffee shops around here is a crap shoot. I just found one I do really like, but independent around here means the barista may or may not have been properly trained, they may or may not give you good customer service, and they may or may not remake your drink if they screw it up. I have no tolerance for that "too cool for school" attitude, so I'm happy to swing into a Starbucks. Independent places also expect a tip, and Starbucks often doesn't. So, really, it's cheaper too. If they swipe your card, they don't even give you a receipt to sign, so there isn't even an opportunity to tip, and in-store Starbucks don't accept tips. Call me cheap, but it keeps my bill down.

The other chains around here are Tully's and Pete's. I don't care for Tully's, and Pete's is okay but out of my way. It's a joke around here that there's a Starbucks on every corner, but there's a reason for that!

It's a Grind is my favorite chain coffe (pick your roast! Yay!), followed by Dunkin' Doughnuts (which in fairness is also a fairly dark roast), followed by Starbucks . . .

Starbucks is not "bad" per-se, it is just a tad over roasted.

Coffee lovers should stick to products that allow you to choose a roast.

Here are two I can vouch for, and profits go to charity. ^_^

I use to like Starbucks coffee, until I discovered Dunkin Donuts coffee. I am addicted to it! Every morning I grind my Dunkin Donuts coffee beans to start my day. It has such great flavor minus that "strong" bitter taste. Good stuff! Some days I use half regular beans and half vanilla or cinnamon spice. It's a tasty combination for a little variety. Dunkin Donuts coffee is 100% preminum Arabica coffee and my favorite!

I am okay with Starbucks - but it is far from my favorite (my spouse totally dislikes Starbucks, so I make my runs solo). I don't mind strong coffee - but sometimes the coffee is so strong it's just overpowering. There is absolutely no reason why I should have to add half a coffee mug full of creamer to get the coffee to taste right. Plus, it makes the coffee cold. Irritating.

I like very smooth blends, and so far my favorite is sold locally (in Birmingham) at a place called O'Henry's Coffees. While their Kona is a favorite (excellent choice), my absolute favorite is the Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. To me it is similar to Kona - very smooth, full of flavor but it will not make your hair stand on end at 6 a.m. I prefer a gradual transition in the mornings, rather than a gut-twisting jolt :) I buy the beans and grind them myself each day. I'm providing a link to O'Henry's Jamaica Blue Mountain, but before your eyes bug out (it's SO expensive), I will tell you I only buy this stuff once in a blue moon.

I actually loathe coffee in general, though I do have special hatred for Starbucks as I worked there for about a year. I applied at the grocery store it was within, but I was "so cute" i got stuffed in Starbucks, the floral department and "special sales" the last one entailed e sitting outside selling summer outdoors stuff and getting sunburn and it was still cooler than working at Starbucks.

My husband on the other hand is a coffee fiend. He also hates Starbucks he swears by this brand made here in Alaska, apparently it is amazing, but on top of my hatred for coffee it also makes me sick due to a caffeine allergy so I can not verify that.

I think Starbucks' coffee is generally too strong/ burnt. However, their specialty drinks are quite delicious. I especially love the frappuccinos and vanilla lattes.

I do not like their coffee per se, it tastes burnt. I drink espresso and the flavor should not be the one of a burnt coffee....when I do go and order at starbuck I stick to a vanilla latte and add sugar so the burnt flavor is minimal

I like Starbucks coffee, but on the other hand I'm not really that picky. This isn't the first time I've heard something about someone disliking the way Starbucks does their coffee. In fact, I happen to know a number of people who prefer Tim Horton's coffee. For what it's worth, Tim Horton's is way less expensive. There's a small chain called Coffee Culture that I'm starting to really like, not for their coffee, but for some of the other frozen drinks they have. Starbucks doesn't have many non-coffee drinks and I wish they had a little more selection in that area.

Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever had a plain Starbucks coffee at all. I usually get a frappuccino with lots of whipped cream, and I suppose that dilutes the taste of the actual coffee.

I do not like Starbucks coffee at all. I have tried it frozen and regular and do not like either one. Now I love to bye Maxwell House Master blend and brew my own. I worked at a small Bistro where I made expresso's, and many different kinds of coffee's for people, however it was all made with exspresso in which I found way to strong for me. Even their regular brewed coffee was way to strong for me. I had to pour the beans in the grinder and then make regular brewed coffee, but even to that it was way to strong for me too. I loved my job making different coffee's hot or frozen I just didn't care for them myself.

Starbucks coffee is too strong for my taste. I also think it's overpriced and overrated. Though I usually brew Maxwell House or Folgers at home, Dunkin Donuts coffee is my favorite. So, no I don't like Starbucks and i definitely wouldn't go out of my way for it.

For iced coffee, my favorite would have to be Dunkin Donuts Dark Roast. The cups are huge, the coffee is better and the price can't be beat. Regular McDonald's coffee would have to be my second favorite, including their iced coffee. The McCafe mocha, lattes and cappuccinos are really good. However, their new McCafe iced coffee is disgusting in my opinion. I couldn't even finish the cup I disliked it so much.

Green Mountain coffee, which is 'gas station' coffee up here in the North East, is surprisingly good.

Lately I've been introduced to Keurig's single serve coffee maker. My sister bought one of the Keurig-Cuisinart single serve brewers and I love trying the different coffee brands and flavors.

I hate Starbucks coffee served out of those carafes that the coffee is old in. I personally drink espresso and that has to be made when it is served not after sitting in a thermos. It is then cold already. The one time I went into Starbucks I bought a double went back to the guy and told him I wanted fresh coffee and he said he couldn't make it that way. I asked for my money back and this turned into a big deal with a manager who wanted to give me a credit but I told him either make me fresh coffee or I wouldn't be back so I wouldn't need a credit. In the end I got my money back by taking it out of the tip jar and told them to work it out as I left.

Well if you would have asked this question to Kathy Bates’s charter in the Water Boy, she would have said, “Starbucks Coffee is the Devil!” Me I just do not enjoy coffee, as ever other adult seems too and I never have. Now the flavored coffees such as the McDonald iced coffees with Carmel in them so not smell like coffee. My son tricked me with that one, and because it did not smell like coffee I drank some, the after taste was beyond gross.

I love smelling the coffee when you open the can o scoop it out to place it in the coffee machine. When it’s brewing, it smells nasty. I love to bake chocolate cookies or cake with coffee as it seems to bring out the flavor of the chocolate even more.

I am actually not much of a coffee drinker and so the few times that I do visit a coffee shop in our area, whether it is Starbucks, or one of the local brands, I usually submit to ordering a hot cocoa or an overly sweetened cappuccino with all the extras and additions. I am not really a fan of overpriced drinks from coffee shops and I don’t think they are much more tastier than the ones you can brew and put together at home. If I do crave a tasty and inexpensive cappuccino on colder days or when I have a longer drive ahead of me and need to wake up, I usually visit a very popular gas station in the next town over that offers a very savory blend for a little over $ 1.

Even though I am a Starbucks fan and go there quite a bit, I do not like the coffee (but rather the Frappacinos and specialty drinks). The coffee is overpriced and really doesn't taste special. My favorite drink at Starbucks is probably the Green Tea Frappacino, but if I want a hot drink, I would go for Green Tea Latte or White Chocolate Latte.

As for regular coffee, I'll take Tim Horton's anyday. Maybe it's because I'm Canadian, but for me it tastes better then any of the regular coffees Starbucks comes out with each day. Thankfully here in Vancouver, BC we have a wide variety of coffee options. Tim Horton's, Starbucks, Bean Around the World, J.J. Bean's, Waves, Blenz, Caffe Artigiano, and many more.
