U can have both hyper/hypo though it is rare I have been diagnosed byUCLA
as Graves is an auto-immune disease, but is not related to thyroid. Lev/Synthroid are the same meds. You can get your thyroid nuked (iodine131) thus putting you on sythroid for the rest of your life. It will never go away, but as you say always monitor the situation with your dr. each physical per year esp. the tsh levels. Please watch out for various climatic changes, stress, personal situations all will have various effects on how your body relates to the hyper/hypo reactions. Most doctors do not have all info on Graves and much misinformation is poured out , be careful and like I am asking many many questions. As this seems per the Mayo Clinic to be genetic and effects women 80-90% and men such as I 10-20% of the time.
