It all depends on what type of climate you prefer. I don't believe that hurricanes are necessarily more dangerous than blizzards. I've personally lived in Florida for 10 years, and not ever has a hurricane made any damage to my home. I think people frequently mistake hurricanes for tornados, which can destroy your house!

Tough question because I love it all, but since the question seems to be calling, sure I'll share a blizzard story with you. When I lived in South Dakota, we got a couple of blizzards. During one, the snow was so high that our single-story school had to be closed for a month because it was completely covered in snow. Our neighbors had a single story house and the snowdrifts came up high enough to meet her sloped roof, so I went sledding off her roof and down the drifts. We had a big horseshoe driveway so we had a snowplow come and plow the driveway out. He pushed all the snow to on area and it made this gigantic snow hill, which would make for great king of the hill, fort making, snowball fighting madness for at least the next month or two.

Never been in a hurricane, but considering how cold I am right now, I'm glad I'm in the South,

Having lived in Michigan and Ohio I am use to Blizzards to you can bring one on at any time... I would not do well with a Hurrican and the thought that my house might be gone after things settle down.

North. I can put on boots and trudge. Hurricanes lock me in for days at a time.

One year, five hurricanes passed through this one part of Florida. I have friends say they were locked in for three days at a time. That's 15 days in a year, or four percent of my entire year!!

North. At least after a blizzard your house is still there. Can't say the same about a hurricane.

I'll take hurricanes. We live far enough from the beach (about 10 miles) so we're protected from storm surge. Wind can still get us, but houses in florida built since andrew (like ours) are pretty sturdy, and the roofs are bolted down better than they used to be.

when charlie came through, we were without electricity for almost a week, but we had what we needed. city water never failed.
