My favorite comic is Too Much Coffee Man!
I went to school with Shannon Wheeler who created it.
They have created an opera based on the comics... I can hardly wait!

"Curtis is a nationally syndicated comic strip written and illustrated by Ray Billingsley. The strip features a cast of primarily African-American characters. It began on October 3, 1988 and is syndicated by King Features. The strip mostly involves the title character, Curtis, getting in trouble at home and school, trying in many attempts to make his father, Greg, quit smoking (a storyline which earned Billingsley the American Lung Association's President's Award in 2000), trying to win the heart of aspiring diva singer Michelle, and stuffing his face." (information obtain from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_%28comic_strip%29)
To me Curtis is the most realistic comic strip you can read. Not only funny it deals with day to day issues people face. It also reminds adults how much fun you had when you where a kid. here you have a kid who lives with his mother(Diane Wilkins),father(Greg Wilkins) and little brother. Being the eldest he is the one always getting into trouble. At home and especially at school. He loves his parents but also love to tease his little brother and so so on many occasions using names. Thinking that his parents favor the little brother more than him he sometimes play pranks on Barry. His school life is hysterical in love with a pretty girl(Michelle) who doesn't or seem to be not interested in him and is love by another girl(Chutney) that he seems to be not interested in either. You just have to love the episodes with his female teacher(Ms.Nelson) especially when she sends him to the principal office or when he is caught reading his "Supercaptaincoolman" (a superhero who is constantly defending the city against the insidious schemes of the evil "Doctor Horsehead"{information obtain from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_%28comic_strip%29 ) comic book. Who can forget strips in which he had to face the school bullies or when his best friend Gunk visit with his pesky pet the flyspeck chameleon. Or when he visits his barber Gunther. this comic is simply the best so much you can relate to and so much you can learn. I could have chosen Garfield,Andy Capp, Calvin & Hobbes, Marvin etc none is like Curtis.

But there's so many that deserve honorable mention. Just a few that pop into mind (and I know if I thought about it there'd be more, so I'm going to draw the line there, or the list will get too long):
Garfield, Monty, that one with the cows saying "Car" to drop on all fours, Andy Capp...
And darn it, I know this is corny, but I still like: Beetle Baily.

Dilbert, which used to tie with Calvin and Hobbes. But there's so many that deserve honorable mention. Just a few that pop into mind (and I know if I thought about it there'd be more, so I'm going to draw the line there, or the list will get too long):
