What did you do to totally geek out and expose yourself as such?

ME: I heard an alert sound from a tech guy's computer and identified it as the overhead page from Star Trek the original series.

Then there are the times when I look at a digital clock at 11:11 and think "F" (binary 1111 is a hexadecimal F). I told a friend this once and discovered that it shouldn't have told anyone. :)

Recent geek out?

I was walking my dog around my apartment complex and within one of the ground floor apartments I heard someone playing on their home theatre system. It was the sound of very distinctive menu select sounds. From Resident Evil's inventory screen. I wanted to run up to their sliding glass door and ask what their screen name was. =p

Exposing my own geekiness?

I have the Firefly theme song as my cell phone ringtone.

I exposed my inner geek at my last job by dressing up as Clark Kent changing into Superman for Halloween. There was a costume competition and I even did the whole bit of walking in with my shirt buttoned up then tearing it open to expose the S on my chest. Keep in mind I had only been at my job for about 4 months at this point and nobody really know who I was that well.

Now I think that this is perfectly normal. My lists are even grouped in order of how the items are shelved at the store I shop at.

Worst geek moment:

I was getting ready to leave the house one day and paused to think "Did I save?" As in my "progress" through the MMO that is my life, I suppose. So if I was killed while out adventuring I could return to that moment of standing in the kitchen.

I tried to laugh about this with some friends and was only met with a look of concern. I knew at that moment that I was irreparably warped.

My text ring tone is the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers communicator beep the original power rangers not the new ones. I found it one day on phonezoo and just had to have it. Now every time I get a text message my husband says "Chris your communicator! Come in Alpha."

Although now it's easy to spot a fellow power rangers geek because when it goes off in the grocery store if someone chuckles I know they watched it too because that sound is only destinctive to original power rangers watchers ..... I need help... lol

Let's see: for *fun*, took my kids to the traveling exhibit of The Louvre's Roman artifacts, where we all took turns reading the Latin inscriptions and translating them. Out loud. Worse yet, we were with a group of kids doing the same thing!

Another one: got into a Pi contest, seeing who could recite the most numbers in a row. I had to bow out at 20, but the winner didn't do too much better at 28.

I think palindromes are fun.

And I have a hard time looking at tall buildings without thinking about Spiderman. Or walking through the woods without thinking about Lord of the Rings.

And I just don't get a lot of pop culture references because I automatically think of the usual scientific or historic definition. I feel like Bones and I'm told I can come across that way.

Oo! Love that video! Honestly: I watched this on first release when my youngest was 24 hours old. A friend came over to keep her awake (she'd fall asleep at 6 and wake up at midnight and stay awake for hours) to reset her sleep schedule, and we sat on the couch and laughed our heads off at this!

1) My entire family has twitter accounts they don't even know about. Next time I see them I plan to secretly associate them with their cell phones so they can all follow me.

2) I have never owned a land line telephone.

3) I taught my mom how to use Myspace, Facebook, and Skype.

4) I can access every computer in my house remotely from work. ***there are six computers in my house for just me and my wife.

5) I dream of putting a PC in my car.

6) My ringtone is the theme song from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

My text ringtone is the start up song from Pacman.
One day I got a text in the middle of class and I hadn't turned off my phone. Everyone giggled :-D

I can't help but identify sound effects from movies or commercials that come from computer noises, like the Apple startup, or the old Microsoft Windows default noises. I also geek out when I hear a "sample pack" or "free-use" sound effect on movies or commercials. "Woah! I have that sound on my keyboard!" or "That cat sound is used in every commercial and movie known to man!"
