The Mahalo Moon Six:
1. jeffhoard
http://www.mahalo.com/member/jeffhoard
Every place needs a community manager and a sherrif. He likes to camp. He can fight fires. He likes to "dream about the future" and blow his mind "reading about the past." He is generous with time and money, and he's a consistently helpful person.
2. Lon
http://www.mahalo.com/member/lon
He'll give tutorials about life on the moon to all newcomers, and he'll help us communicate with all our pals back on Earth. He has a 4th degree black belt and a beard. He is famous by one name, like Cher.
http://lonharris.com/
3. drmatt
For "practical health and wellness" purposes. His advice costs money, but perhaps you can at least get a band-aid for free once in a while.
http://www.mahalo.com/member/drmatt
4. robbrown
He will solve problems, be creative and lead by example.
http://www.mahalo.com/member/robbrown
He would bring along some cool gadgets and explore the "dark side" of the moon. ;)

6. cheapgamer
http://www.mahalo.com/member/cheapgamer

He's already researching life away from earth by exploring the question of being stranded on a strange planet, and he'll figure out exactly what robots we need before we go.

GNO MOON COLONY PROJECT MEMBERS:
1. @smartweb - We need someone with superior technological know-how to keep connections with earth up and running.
2. @jasoncalacanis - Because I think that man could sell sand to a camel. He could take our moon colony and make it a profitable one...somehow. It wouldn't just be a civilization--it would be a business!
3. @robbrown - Just because he's an ultra smarty pants, and I think there's little about technology, society, design, or survival that Rob couldn't think through.
4. @bunnyphuphu - Because not only do we all need some grounded humor in our colony, but I know she's very much a nature lover who can hopefully bring a little bit of earth and a pleasant "spirit" to the Gno Moon Colony Project.
5. @mithrandir - Because I know he'd have my back in case any Martians pull a knife. Or laser. Or whatever. I'd like to assume he really does have some kind of Gandalf-like powers to protect the Moon Colony members.
6. @cheapgamer - Not only because he has an amazing and bright spirit, but because he's a dork like me who is very intelligent and can "dork a problem down" until it's fixed. @cheapgamer and I speak a very similar language. Maybe he will be my second in command. Hmmmm...

Jeffhoard - I really think he has an answer for every question... Plus someone has to keep the order on the planet!
Lon - because he could find a way to improve the colony. Always bright ideas. Also, he is a coffee fan, and he will definitely find a substitute for coffee in space! I'm addicted!
Lilyloretta - She can always put a smile on your face!
Buddawiggi - Because I am sure he can always find a different answer to any question answered!
Safiqulislam - For his teen spirit! Has a different way to see things, that we..."oldies" forgot about!
Robbrown - He is a travel and a gadget guru! I'm sure he will find out the best way to place our camp! And can also start advertising it!
Anyway, that's a small crew for a ship! If you decide to change the number, let me know! I have at least 20 more people to add...
Can I have a co-pilot? A cook? :D

3. Gno - Brilliant and lovely, also a great conversationalist. She's always got soemthnig up her sleeve too. GT good times that one!
4. Buddawiggi - Also brilliant - possibly the mad scientist who figures out that the moon is in fact made of cheese. We'll make billions exporting moon cheese dip. Laughing all the way to the bank.
5. Jeffhoard - sort of the Optimus Prime of our crew, would rule with a wisened iron fist. would also play moon golf and drive the ball about 6 miles.

Also, dare I mention that if we're starting a colony... umm... how shall I put it... there better be a balance of men and women, and ones who are, shall we say... willing to have kids together.
Eeep. I'm not sure it's wise or tactful to even answer this question now. :)
Here goes anyway...
First two... @robbrown and @brandy76. They're married to each other, multi-skilled, and adults in their prime. Rob has a good range of techie knowledge, which would likely be needed. Also because it is tactful to select married couples for this.:)
Then some smart, very nice, youngish and energetic adults... @gno and @ml962. They bring a broad range of practical skills as well.
Now I think we might need someone who understands a lot about growing food. So I'll go for @morriss003 who farms in Maui, and has a bunch of other skills to boot. He's older, but maybe with the other younger people around that'll be a nice balance. Plus as a stargazer and sci-fi fan, he'd love to go.
And for my last choice, well they should be female, and in terms of skills, I think we could do someone with medical knowledge. If I knew of any female doctors on Mahalo, they'd probably get the vote. But I can't think of any, so I'll go for @nushka. A young, very smart scientist, with I believe a very good knowledge of biology and other sciences, who is researching uses of nanotech in medicine.
There you go... a reasonably well balanced team of people that I like, and that would hopefully have the right skills!
There's many other people that would be great to have along, and just don't fit the specs I set out quite as well as my picks. So it's with regret that I leave out the likes of @lon, @jeffhoard and @bunnyphuphu.

Oooh. This is a tough one. Really tough. And I'd like to just apologize now to any of my friends and happy acquaintances on this site that if you aren't elected to serve in the Gno Moon Colony Project, it's not because I'm not terribly fond of you. It's because I may need you for my Earth-based operations. You understand, don't you? GNO MOON COLONY PROJECT MEMBERS:
1. @smartweb - We need someone with superior technological know-how to keep connections with earth up and running.
2. @jasoncalacanis - Because I think that man could sell sand to a camel. He could take our moon colony and make it a profitable one...somehow. It wouldn't just be a civilization--it would be a business!

Both @irishstephen1974 and @hillo, you guys are at the top of my Earth Crew staff. The good news is that you get to stay safely on the earth, don't risk getting Moon Pox, and get a nifty mission patch for your jackets.
I'm also counting on you to handle my earth publicity so that if anything goes "wrong" on the moon, I can't be prosecuted. For that, I'll cut you in for a share of the profits from the "Moon Cheese" Jason is going to be selling for us.

@buddawiggi, although you're idea is a great one, if I build pages like those, I'll just have people copying my Moon Colony model and attempting to open competing Moon Colonies. Before you know it, they'll cut into my Moon Cheese profits and attempt to lure @smartweb away. No thank you!
I like my Moon Colonies just like Bill Gates likes his Companies, monopolistic and high on the hog. ;)

If you're going to start a colony anywhere with just seven people - me plus six - they'd better be fit, energetic, and a well balanced team with complementary and relevant skills.
