Thinking about Zombies. Is it moral to kill them because they are forced to follow their instincts? Or do we as a society owe them better?

According to the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, you don't kill zombies, you destroy them. The zombie is already dead.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c2/Zombiesurvivalguide.jpg

Here is the timeline of symptoms according to wikipedia

Hour 1- Pain and discoloration of the infected area. Immediate clotting of the wound.

Hour 5- Fever between 99 °F. and 103 °F. Chills, slight dementia, vomiting, and acute pain in the joints.

Hour 8- Numbing of extremities and infected area, increased fever from 103 °F to 106 °F. Increased dementia and loss of muscular coordination.

Hour 11- Paralysis in the lower body, overall numbness, and slowed heart rate.

Hour 16- Coma.

Hour 20- Cardiac arrest and cessation of brain activity.

(See? Dead)

Hour 23- Reanimation.

Solanum is extremely contagious and 100% fatal.

Fatal: again, they are already dead.

It is very important for your own safety that you make up your mind before a zombie outbreak because if you start wondering, you are dead.

If zombies were to actually rise up, we as a society would have a really hard time trying to cure them, or stop the spread of the cause of the zombification if we were to decide that killing them is morally bad.

Is it moral to kill a bear or shark if it attacks you? They are following their instincts as well. It's always moral to defend yourself from something that is trying to eat you or your brain.

All of this anti-zombie propaganda is atrocious. Zombies are misunderstand and are a very peaceful people. If we would stop trying to kill them whenever we see them perhaps they would act a little more friendly. I for one when the Zombie outbreak occurs will be inviting them into my house where I will show my kindness and serve them brie and lattes.

This is a very interesting new theory. Some zombie researchers have proposed a mob mentality kind of behaviour, so if you treat them respectfuly they might do the same. The problem is that since they cannot speak, you will never know how much sugar they want in their lattes and the wrong ammount of sugar may upset them.
Even if you succeed, there is still the problem of digestion. Zombies do not digest their food. Food just passes trhough the digestive system pushed by more food. And that is how it comes out after several days of decomposition. Some times it just explodes but they're fine with it and continue eating.
My source is still The Zombie Survival Guide.

considering zombies are just humans with no guilt or commen concern for society id say let them eat you and you have nothing to worry about ever again so if the apocalypse came i,e worldwide zombie carnage id take part in there demise with mindless sporting events with the zombies as my fortaa then when i get bored id give up and smother myself in bbq sauce so id be a sexy meal for them .
