Is it just me or is Google Android a somewhat misleading and therefore kind of lame name?

If Google makes a humanoid robot one day, what will they call it?

I agree on one level, after all it's a cool sounding name. My gripe is that "android" has absolutely nothing to do with humanoid robots

Not
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android

Now when I try to look up cool science and robotics stuff I have to search "Android robot" or "Humanoid robot", because "android" brings up Google software links, those jerks. *shakes fist at Google*

Yeah, that is a pretty good point. You can say the same thing about chrome. Now you have to sift your way through results about a web browser when you really want results on a type of metal.

The mascot isn't even really an android. He's a robot. Unless he has some living organic parts hooked up inside that dome of his.
