How do I find my glasses?

I figure I may as well let you all have a little fun with this morning's dilemma, and maybe you might have a few good ideas. First I just would like to ask that you forgive any typos because.. uhh... I can barely see my computer screen right now.

I was so tired when I stumbled off to bed last night that I can't remember if I even took my glasses off before laying down or not. I always put them on the tabele next to my bed. I'm gusssing I forgot and they flew off somewhere because they are nowhere to be found. I tdid my usual trick to find lost glasses, pulled out my flashlight and searched my room for the reflection, but no luck. I looked under my pilow, shook out my sheets, behind and under my bed, on all sides of my bed. I guess I'll search the rest of my house in case I sleep walked or took them off somewhere and didn't put them back on out of tired stupidity.

I guess this is one of those "I hate living alone" moments because lol... I already have a headache froms tumbling around for 5 minutes without my glasses, it's not like I can see very well, and I have no freaking clue where they might be! Ideas, anyone?

And yes you can laugh, I'm laughing too.

Ugh...I do this too! And I'm pretty much blind without my contacts/glasses which makes it even worse. I am fortunate in one way, and that's the fact that I'm a creature of habit...so there are very few places for me to lose them at. What I do is start out around my bed/nightstand which you've done. Then I move to the bathroom/sink to make sure I didn't take them off there while washing my face/brushing my teeth. And finally, look by the couch since I tend to stumble away from there half asleep to bed...and have been known to fall asleep and have them fall off my face...

Once you DO find them...consider covering one of your lenses with:

Then they will be easy to find! Warning...you may look like a pirate after donig this...

• If you're wondering the outcome, I still haven't found em, and my appointment for new glasses is in 4 hours... haha... *sigh* Thanks for the help though! Someone pray to St. Anthony for me that I find them before then, LOL.

Ah hah, so I'm not the only one that does this! Well, I've just gotten back from round 2 of searching... checked both bathrooms, checked all around my computer desk, checked the living room. I wish I could at least remeember IF I took them off last night but I don't even remember that much. I admit defeat... I called my mom who lives like a 10 minute drive away, she said she'll come over if I haven't found em in half an hour. Ei yai yai!

And I laughed so hard at that picture. Could use that for my purse, security system remote (need a remote to find the remote...), etc. Not sure how practical they'd be on my glasses but hey, could use it one day of the year, on talk like a pirate day!

Since you can't see, you'll need to... Use the Force, Luke. :)

Seriously though, when I've lost something, if I stop stressing about it for a while, the answer often just pops into my head.

That's all that I can offer really, as I can see pretty well without glasses.

@philipy I ate the force last time I got hungry, now what?! D:

Yeah that's part of why I stopped searching and came to the computer. Figured I'd wake up a bit, and maybe I'd magically say OHHH YEAH, I did [x] before I went to bed! But no, I'm just thnking more and more that I fell asleep with them on, which means they've gotta be around my bed somewhere, and for all I know they could be smashed to smitherines.

Lucky you that you can see well without yours. :P I have to squint and move my nose within a foot of something if I want to see it. But hey, I'd rather learn this lesson of keeping an emergency pair by losing them than breaking them. This is better than, say, stepping on the only pair I have and going "uh oh, now what?"

Invite a friend over, find your glasses, and then go to http://www.glassyeyes.com/ to find a link to a place to get cheap glasses online so you always have a second pair for such an occasion!

Alternatively, you can get disposable contact lenses that you keep in one place, and have multiple sets of for such an occasion.

Actually, I recommend both methodologies.

As far as finding them, I would re-check the bed area. In particular I find the "kneel and feel" method works better than the "look for a reflection" method. Also the "pick up all the bedding and shake it out/fold it up" methodology.

You don't actually sleepwalk, do you? That's a whole set of new problems.. but even then I would guess the most likely other places are your bathroom, and maybe your kitchen if you ever get a snack at night.

Yeah my mom's on her way over, and thanks for the link! I'm due for new glasses anyway so whenever I'm able to get those, I'll definitely be buying an emeergency cheap pair. Because really, what would I do if I sat on them and broke them? I need a backup, I just never thought that way about it before. Necessesity is the mother of invention, I suppose.

Contacts, I tried getting once, but my eyes are too sensitive. The eye doctor tried to put one in, I jumped three feet in the air, whacked his arm, the contact went flying and got losti n the rug. He got mad and kicked me out. That was the end of that adventure.

I just went back and tried the "kneel and feel"... felt like a blind little old lady but nope, nada! Shook out all th eblankets for a third time, checked inside my pillow case like someone else suggested, re-checked the bathrooms, re-checked my kitchen, re-checked my office... I give up, I'll just wait til my mom gets here.

I haven't been al ong-term sleep walker, but I've woken up sleepwalking a few times in recent months. Usually I have a nightmare that I KNOW someone is in my house, and I jump out of bed and start searching my house for them, and that's how I wake up. One time I was convinced that my ex-husband broke into my house and woke up looking under the dining room table for him. Haha, it was creepy, at least it hasn't happened often. But I could see it happening and me not remembering, so who knows where my glasses could be.

Look/Feel INSIDE the pillow case. I have sleep minded somehow placed the glasses inside the pillow case. Didn't find then until that night when I flipped and fluff the pillow before laying down. to my benefit I had contacts to get me through my day.

I also keep an old pair of glasses for emergencies like this.

Assuming you've checked the normal spots, plan B is to try and retrace that tired stumbling you describe. Find the starting point, imagine yourself in the same mood, and stumble around like you're going to bed. Possibly, you'll suddenly notice where you put them as you were making those last navigational adjustments.
