What are you going to do to celebrate National Doughnut Day?

Free donuts! You could celebrate and show your support for the Salvation Army by participating in National Donut Day today June 4th, 2010 by getting your free donut at Dunkin Donuts today but do you have any other spectacularly creative ideas for celebrating National Donut Day today?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm participating, I just want the free dozen donuts :-) I'm taking a picture of myself holding up my free donut card, and will be heading off to Dunkin Donuts, and I might even hand some out to people to make their day a better one. I don't know if anyone will want the free donut, yet it's not a bad idea to ask people if they'd like a donut as you're walking down the street. What flavor should I get is the more interesting question.

Just in case you're wondering, Dunkin Donuts sponsored a local party, and gave away these cards to people who attended.

I believe you have to buy a drink to get your free donuts but my family and I are all going down the Dunkin Donuts for some drinks and free donuts today! Hopefully everyone else will also because Donuts have a special place in our country's history and culture, creating moments of genuine delight and bringing people together at home.

celebrate it by making your own! I already made some today, and i didnt even know i was celebrating a holiday. there way better than a dunkin doughnut, even if its free. I got my recipie on mahalo how to a few weeks ago and i make them all the time. its super easy, essentially just fried dough.

Let's see - to celebrate National Free Doughnut Day, I think it would be fun to dress up like the Pillsbury Dough Boy and roll into the closest Doughnut shop. Just kidding. We don't have any local Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts but one of our local doughnut shops was gracious enough to participate and even provided a free cup of coffee this morning. Indeed we are enjoying National Doughnut Day! They REALLLLLY should co-ordinate a National Coffee and Doughnut Day.

DAMN! I had no idea it was National Donut (doughnut?) Day!

I'd have been at Ray"s Donuts, here in St. Louis originally an owned and operated LaMar's out of KC.

The name change might have come with franchising--the product's the same. (Apparently happened elsewhere, too--see link below.)

I'd have had a Boston Cream Bizmarck--a big-ass donut. Look at the top of that LaMMar's case.

(I've lost 70 lbs in 18 months--I can cheat for one day. Wash it down with a cup of bacon grease???)

As a dedicated opponent of all that the Salvation Army, Dunkin Donuts, and even doughnuts in general stand for, I am not enthusiastic about this celebration. However, perhaps I will attempt to turn the day around (I like "Day"'s) by celebrating with a beignet (my state's official State Donut). Perhaps I'll dunk it in some beer to make it more of a celebration.

Taking a trip to Café du Monde today, eh? Beignets are a little too much for me... too much sugar!

The Crescent City Brewhouse, a couple of blocks away, is more to my taste.
