How would you save the world if you had 100 billion U.S. dollars in a fund as director of the foundation? (No, you can't steal it).

Yes, you are on salary but if you goof around and do nothing you will still get paid because you are in charge. So, what would you do? Discuss. Any studies or research support your position?

Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1. Create a series of distributed decentralized Megawatt generators using fuel cell or hydrogen fuel cell electrical generation.
2. Complete the final develop of the wiffle ball fusion generator technology
3. Invent a new anti-matter collector to produce terawatts of energy
4. Complete the solar to hydrogen conversion system
5. Build an all electric highway with wireless electrical transmission
6. Build the worlds largest solar farm
7. Buy Blacklight power

(I would do one or many of these ideas with 100 billion dollars)

I don't believe in reinventing the wheel, so if I had $100bn to do good with, I would look at doing the same as Warren Buffet and give it to the Gates Foundation, who I think are are doing an excellent job.

I also don't believe in disbursing a huge amount of money with only a few minutes thought, so I'd follow a considerable process of evaluating the Gates Foundation, checking out whether this really would be the best path, and what the alternatives could be.

However, what I've heard and read is very positive, and in tune with my own thinking. For example some of the things they're doing which I like:

http://www.nextbillion.net/news/gates-foundation-provides-15-4-million-to-opportunity-internatio

If I elected not to give the money to the Gates Foundation, I'd still be putting it into the same kinds of things.

I wouldn't spend it on things like alternative energy research because lots of money is being spent on that already, both by governments and private investors.

Overall, $100bn is not going to "save the world" but it can certainly do a lot of good if well used.

Well, in the end, I can't save anyone from dying and very few from poverty long term. I guess I would go the direction of saving people's souls: I would have pastors, missionaries, and evangelists interviewed and choose 100,000 with sound doctrine, compassion for those who need a Savior, and plans for evangelization, divide them by regions based on population, and give them $1 million to fund their work.
