How would you feel if you were inside a small, white room with no windows, doors or furnishings?

I know that the color would soon drain from my face.
I'd be lonely... and scared.
I would start whistling so I wouldn't feel so alone.

My butt would hurt after a while from sitting on the floor.
I'd miss my mommy.

The only entertainment I'd have with a white wall would be to make shadow puppets.

all alone with nobody to play with...

There would have to be internal light.
If not... than how would you know the room was white in the first place?
You could always use your body from a light source to make shadows, right?

If there is no windows, doors, furnishings and only a white wall, from where will you get the light to make the shadows ?

It would creep me out. I know that most people would go insane, or atleast be mentally unstable. The least that can happen, that is if I stay for long hours, I'd turn claustrophobic.

I personally would HATE it. I have visited old jails while touring Europe and I cant understand how anyone could survive in one of those cells. I imagine it would be worse in a room with not textures or color!!

I would not like it. I would wonder how I got in the room since there are no doors. I think that is why elevators are not white inside. It is too sterile. I would feel claustrphobic once I let the wonder of how I got into the room wear off. Then, a few minutes might go by, and I would attempt to wake up as I must be dreaming.

This would creep me out as well. I would be all right if I knew that I would be in there for a very short time, say an hour, and that either it would open automatically after that, or that someone I trust would be there and open it.

Your description reminds me of some prisons I have toured, more specifically the segment lovingly called "the hole." It takes a very strong mind to be thrown into such a room and survive without a psychotic breakdown. Many are driven crazy by this kind of treatment. Hallucinations are extremely common depending on the length of time a person spends in such a room. It was once thought that by placing mentally ill patients in such a room, it would have the opposite effect on them, however, this is simply not true. It just goes to show that connecting with fellow humans in some way is necessary to maintain our sanity.

If you have ever seen the movie, "Into the Wild," I found it poignant near the end of the movie when, after spending many months the Alaska wilderness with no human contact at all, ecstatic at being one with nature, but still not completely content with his life, he wrote in his journal, "Happiness is only when shared."

I kind of did this when i quit smoking. I had a studio apartment and didnt leave for two weeks. Had no internet, no T.V., no phone, No car, Middle of nowhere, middle of winter. Honestly, i got some of my best thinking done. I spent one 48 stent just sitting in the corner. Luckily my imaginary friend Robert Hernandez Franklinstein the Third was there to keep me company.

I would hate it, I would wonder if I was in a padded room.
http://koolbirks.com/misc/heroes1/12/vlcsnap-361115.jpg I would go crazy if I was not already crazy. I would feel scared, alone, hungry, i would miss my bed, my family. I would sing to past the time. I would try to dance, while I was singing.

(Man, I had to type this answer twice!)

Realistically, my thought process would probably begin with how I got there (assuming I just sort of woke up there one day). Then I would wonder why, and who brought me there, and whether or not they had any intention of letting me out. During that initial panic of knowing that I could possibly starve to death in this room, I would totally freak myself out worrying about where my wife was, if she was okay, and probably break down at the thought of never seeing her again.

Once I was too tired to still be flippin' out, I'd probably start to wonder if I -belonged?- there. I'd think I'd start coming up with crazy scenarios like "maybe I'm insane and everything in my life was imagined" or "oh no, what if I hurt somebody!" If I decide, after a while, that I'm probably not crazy, I'd start to wonder if I was gonna die like someone in a Hostel or Saw movie, which would get me fantasizing about a dramatic and heroic escape. Then I'd realize that I'm gonna have to crap in the corner and sit in there with it.

If it were a controlled environment, and I knew about it, sort of like a emergency rehab center or something, I'd be alright. I'm not claustrophobic or anything, and I can easily entertain myself with my thoughts. Still, I'd worry that, eventually, a scenario might arise wherein I would have to crap in the corner and sit in there with it.

But that's just me.

Claustrophobic :( - except this would be a true reason to be fearful.

But I'd try to chill out and maybe sing, close my eyes and imagine wide open happy spaces. Not sure how long I'd be able to be successful at fending off panic - but with nowhere else to go - you'd need to find that place in your mind until some kind person opened the real door to let you out of the place.
