How will you celebrate this Thanksgiving?

We haven't had any holiday there for around 5 years now, when his grandma decided she couldn't handle it any longer. But this year, about a month ago she was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with numerous problems, including pneumonia and kidney failure. She was in a rehab center nearby when she fell and broke her hip. They can't operate because of her kidneys, so she's in hospice care. My husband's grandpa is 10 years older, and if she's never coming home, he doesn't want to live in their house any longer. So the family is going to have one last Thanksgiving and Christmas in their house that they've lived in for 50 years before he goes to a retirement center. At some point we'll all go visit her, although she's on so much pain medication I don't know if she'll realize we're there or not.
I've spent many holidays, Thanksgiving included, in or around hospitals. I hope never to do that to my family.
One thing that will not change: before we eat, we'll all stand in a circle around the table and each say at least one thing we're grateful for, from the oldest to the youngest able to talk. We've been doing this for many years. And then someone will lead a prayer, and then we eat.
Then we'll be having dinner with my side on Saturday, this time at a restaurant, no cooking involved. At least none by me!

M$Doing it this way we had some special time for ourselves, left overs to last a month, and also got to share time with everyone else. It was nice.

M$Before thanksgiving we will provide help at a couple local charities. They need a hand.
Because we moved since last Thanksgiving, we will have a nice quiet home-cooked meal and hang out. The kids will be back from school so this will be a time to reconnect. One of the things we'll do is go through old family albums (probably digitize some pics) and tell stories of loved ones who are no longer with us.
And, a roaring fireplace will be a place to sit back and enjoy each other's company.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who reads this. May your lives be filled with love and peace.
