about Stormy Daniels Senate
How will Stormy Daniels' campaign be affected by Charlie Melancon entering the race?
They both appeal to people who dislike incumbent Senator Vitter but have little else in common. Congressman Melancon is a boring conservative Democrat who used to be the chief lobbyist for the Sugar industry before becoming a congressman. He represents rural, Cajun, southwest Louisiana. What's your spin?

Stormy, a former stripper whose chosen career path has led her to "star" in pornographic movies, never had a serious campaign, so Charlie Melancon entering the race will have no affect at all.
It seems ironic that critics of David Vitter point to his moral shortcomings while supporting (at least some of them) a stripper turned porn star.
On the other hand, it could be a brilliant satirical thrust, along the lines of "if you (Vitter) believe you are morally qualified to hold office, here is who we believe is an appropriate opponent." It effectively makes a mockery out of the Louisiana Senate race, which is precisely the point that some would make concerning Vitter's incumbency, especially considering his "family values" stance.

In any case, whether Stormy's supporters seriously believe a stripper/porn star is a good choice for Senator, or whether they simply found her a perfect tongue in cheek foil for Vitter's obvious weak spot, it is irrelevant as the Democratic party now has a legitimate candidate in Charlie Melancon. Serving his third term in congress, Charlie should be able to run a very competitive campaign. I personally find it refreshing that Melancon has actual business experience and is NOT a lawyer.

You may be right, I have to confess ignorance to this whole scenario until I read your question. It interested me and so I looked into it a bit. I definitely will be watching with interest. Thanks for pointing it out to me!!
His site says "Prior to his election to Congress in 2004, Charlie spent 11 years as the President and General Manager of the American Sugar Cane League". That translates as lobbyist for the Sugar industry. In my book that's worse than a lawyer or porn star. Still, I suppose he would be an improvement on Vitter. Stormy's campaign has provoked far more interest so far.
