What we're creating for Mahalo is "free" content. Mahalo creates a framework for social interaction and enables you and I to have a dialogue. Our dialogue is forever archived and the next time someone Googles a question that has been discussed on Mahalo, Mahalo has a greater chance to rank because of the content and relevance.
Mahalo takes this traffic from Google and uses it to expand their user base, increase their user volume and also generate ad revenue via the "Ads by Google" and other display advertising you see here. Expanding the user base and having more capital to work with allows them to have more useful content (because more users are sharing knowledge) and the money to develop new site features.
