Toyota Motors (TM), like many automobile manufacturers, was negatively impacted by the financial crisis. In 2009 Toyota suffered a loss of over half a million dollars. However, the car company began to rebound in 2010 and posted a profit of $198,804. These gains were made despite a massive recall which included over 8 million vehicles between November 2009 and March 2010. While this doesn’t even approach their pre-financial crisis profits of nearly 2.5 million in 2007 and 2008, it is a strong sign Toyata’s economic fortunes have begun to rebound.

For the second straight year, Toyota sold more vehicles than any other manufacturer. In 2010 Toyota Motors, which includes Daihatsu Motor Company and Hino Motors, reported sales of 8.418 million automobiles. Toyota brand vehicles alone were responsible for 7.528 million of those. The car manufacturing group hopes to continue the trend of slow and sustained growth with another 8% increase in 2011, bringing the anticipated total for this year to just over 9 million units sold.
