How well do Mahalo How-To's Rank on Google?

This is less of a question but more of an informative post:

There has been a lot of talk about SEO and Ranking as of late and thus I thought I would share 2 how-to's that rank #1 on Google. Yes one of them is a how to that I did and one that was done by @ssmacd.

The reason for this question/post is to show that good content and a great page can be ranked quite high. Take a look at the pages and then by all means share with us the Mahalo pages you have found that rank very high!

Hope you find this question/post helpful....just wanted to share my findings and thoughts!

Now for the details:

How to make a Dirty Martini without Brine - by yours truly
How to make a Dirty Martini - by @ssmacd.

The ranking spot for both of the above - #1
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

@tchachra I did a google check and there you were #1. As I noted on your google page--It really rocks! It's visually stunning. I'm not saying that because your high-ranking at Mahalo. When the page popped up, I just went "wow". My husband said "what" and I showed him. He thinks it is great eye candy too.
It's too bad I don't drink martini's anymore. @ssmacd Hi tchachra wanted me to see your page on Dirty Martinis and see his. I checked both and sure enough they popped up as #1 on Google. Impressive. What I liked about your video was that the written instructions popped up on the screen as your voice instructed on the video. You also gave details about what implements you need prior to making the martini. You also gave a little factoid history lesson at the end. It's a great page.

I searched for the Top Earners on Mahalo and this is what I came up with:
The Mahalo Top 7
1) Official Site of the President: President Barack Obama
whitehouse.gov
2) Barack Obama Podcasts
obama.senate.gov
3) Senate.gov: Barack Obama
obama.senate.gov
4) NY Times: House Approves Budget Plan
nytimes.com (April 29, 2009)
5) Politifact.com: Track Obama's Campaign Promises
politifact.com
6) Politico: Congress Passes $3.5T Budget Plan
politico.com (April 29, 2009)
7) Fox News: Obama, Chavez Shake Hands at Summit of the Americas
foxnews.com (April 17, 2009)

I did a google search for the Top Mahalo Pages on Google and it directed me to Mahalo How to Build a Page on our site.

I hope I've answered your questions. The learning experience was great for me. I have bookmarked your web pages so that I can make reference to them. Thanks for sending me this helpful assignment. Komomai

Yep. They can rank very well, if your page is good and if there is little competition for that page. I just posted my How to Earn the Architect Ribbon on Farmville last night, and it's already #4 in the rankings on Google. It depends how thorough your information is, how smart you are about SEO, and what other sites are posting about the topic/i.e. what the competition is like.

Thanks for the answer. My thoughts on SEO are:
1. Don't think about it.
2. Focus on content, it is king.
3. The crawlers will find your content....

Awesome How-To by the way.
