about Jay Leno
How was the new Jay Leno Show?
Does he still ''have it'' to be first in the late night slot? or are folks like Craig Ferguson and David Letterman better now?
As you probably know, tonight was the premiere of his new "old" show back in his late night format after Conan O'Brian left it. A historic moment as he returns to the show that he successfully carried in number one spot since the late Johnny Carson left it - that Conan O'Brien just couldn't keep going.

First of all, I think it's unfair to say Conan O'Brian couldn't keep it going. To expect any host to have exactly the same audience is foolish. And, with Leno put on at 10pm, it was essentially back-to-back talk shows for 2 hrs on NBC, which isn't exactly what I would do if I were looking to have strong ratings for either show. But regardless, that wasn't your question.
I thought Leno's return to 11:35pm was exactly what it was when he left. Which is to say it was fine, but not special. For a guy returning to a time slot he apparently wanted back, I was disappointed. I think Leno will find it difficult to capture the same ratings he had when he left The Tonight Show, although he's still popular with a huge segment of the population, so he could still win the ratings in the time slot. I'm hoping that there's more to come, and something new, but I'm not holding out much hope. And, despite my feeling that the show was much like it was when he left, I don't enjoy it as much as I did a year ago, and no longer make an effort to watch every night. So that's not good for Leno or NBC, especially if there are others out there who feel as I do.
