How was the King James version of the Bible canonized?

Explain the history of the King James version of the Bible
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

In 1604, King James I of England commissioned 54 scholars to make a new translation of the Bible. The did a translation from Hebrew and Greek, whick they completed and published in 1611. Because King James commissioned it, it became know as the "Authorized Version", and the official Bible of the Church of England.

In most of the world, the copyright has expired, and this Bible is freely reproducable.
