how was the earth formed?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Earth as it is today was created by a collision. There was a planet in Earth's orbit that was much larger than the Earth is today. It is theorized that a planetoid a bit smaller than Mars collied with the original planet. The planet turned molten.. the denser material stayed and a large amount of the less denser material was flung off and later formed the moon. This is why the moon has little to no metal core and the Earth does. Also why the Earth has a magnetic field.
