My phone number is programmed into someone's auto dial fax machine.

I have been getting a call every two munutes for over four hours from a fax machine. The number is blocked so I have no way to find out where it is comming from. The phone company tells me to repeatedly press keys on the keypad of the phone and the tones will interrupt the fax and it will stop calling me. ( Doesn't work )

Can anyone tell me how to stop these autoredial fax calls?

I hope you have been able to fix this already, but if you haven't, I have found an idea for you.

Now, I am hoping that you are dealing with a land line and you have Win XP around somewhere. I am not sure if this same feature is available in Vista or 7. I am guessing it is, but you will need to check on your own. Anyway, follow the steps at my source and you can set up your computer to receive faxes. With them in hand, or answered, maybe the calls will stop or you can at least contact them back and request them to stop.

Finally, in one of the articles I was reading, an interesting point was brought up. Perhaps you are not hearing faxes. Instead, it could be a failed Wardialing Program or a Dial Up modem with the wrong number programmed into it.

Best answer.
It would have worked except that most new computers no longer have fax cards. I have three and none of them have faxes.

Well, perhaps you know some people who may have a personal fax machine that you can borrow for a few hours to catch the fax. If it is not a fax, then you may have to deal with one of the alternative things I mentioned.

Also, if this is continuing, you might be able to complain at your local law enforcement office. It could be considered harassment or possibly home invasion (I am strictly speculating). If they will help you out, the police might be able to force the phone company to reveal the phone number that is harassing you and put a stop to it.

Finally, if you can maintain your patience and cool when dealing with the phone company, then I would suggest planning a long evening on the phone with their support people. It might take some time, but you may be able to climb their support ladder. The first level of representatives probably can't help you, but you might be able to talk your way to a 3rd or 4th level of support to get better help.

What I did was actually received one fax. It was from a marketing company. They had a phone number to call back to stop the faxes.
I am not sure you tried that.

This happened to me once, for a whole day and I didn't have a fax machine or a number so I unplugged my phone from the wall over night and used my cellphone to make calls. I didn't get them again the next day when I plugged back in.

Hi williamwaco,

I suggest you get a call screening enabled on your phone's local numbers provider.
