How can I fix my flash drive after unplugging it from the computer and I didn't use the "safely remove" program?
I unplugged my usb flash drive (Verbatim 8gb) and I forgot to use the 'safely remove' program. Now, when I plug my flash drive in to my computer, it starts blinking, and I can hear it running. It completely stops My Computer from working when I try to open it to find the drive letter. I have to remove the flash drive from the usb port to get my computer and the My Computer program to work properly. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to how to get my flash drive to start working again on my computer. By the way, when I plug the flash drive into the computer, it does not show up anywhere as a drive. Unplugging it without using the 'safely remove' program, it's like the flash drive is still running. I can't do anything to stop it from running, and I can't do anything to open it up either...Please, hope someone can help with this..

By not using the "safely remove" option it sounds as though your drive has been corrupted (this is caused when a drive is removed from a computer while data is being written to it). You might have some luck formating the drive but doing so with USB drives is not always an easy option. Due to the price of Flash Drives, compared to the headache of "fixing" one, it might be best to just purchase a new drive. Either way it is very likely that you have lost the data on your drive I'm afraid :(

do a chkdsk on it Click on start left click my computer right click your flashdrive
left click properties left click tools left click error checking you might have to
restart pc and what that will do is check the flash drive for errors hope this helps Also try to format the flash drive in another computer like a friends.
You can also try to format it in dos i hear it is the best way to format . I really don't know how to format in dos but it might help.

If you are doing it in a usb port though i am sure you are update your usb drivers some times it helps try driver magic thay used to be free now thay charge when you get the program you can update your usb drivers with it if you want our you can go into control panel performance and maintance left click system click hardware you can update in device manager.
Dude you need help, and I might have a suggestion...if there's repairs that's needed you can go onto craigslist.org and post a temp. position for the right person. Make sure they can guarantee their work ,and have them put something up for collateral (this way it's a win-win situation that your walking into), and there you go a safe way to play it by the rules of a HUSTLER!
