I'll wash my chucks when the rubber is nasty. I use a toothbrush and baking soda. On most shoes, the fabric part is easy to clean off and its mostly the rubber that gets really bad. For the fabric, just putting a little soap and rubbing with your fingers/thumbs will do the trick. Baking soda gets white really white and it's completely harmless to your shoe.

Does anyone even clean their shoes? If yes, with what? and how?
I've asked around and most people just buy new shoes. I'm talking about sport shoes, casual shoes and such. I heard of people using the same detergent they use to wash their clothes for their shoes and a brush. Is it that simple? Any ideas?
