How to teach a Chow Chow to be friendly to all family members?
My friend has recently got a cute Chow Chow puppy. He is very energetic and friendly to her and to the older dog in the house, a two year old Golden Retriever. However, he is not so warm toward other family members. He sometimes bites and won’t listen to their instructions. A book said that Chow Chow is a one person type of dog, but do you have any tips and tricks how to teach him to warm up to another family members?

Here are some tips I have read online on how to best prepare your Chow Chow for life with children:
1. Take him to a regular veterinary care annually for his physical examination, routine vaccinations and/or titer testing. It is recommended that pet Chows should be spayed or neutered so that it will enable your Chow to focus on being a good companion instead of being influenced by hormonal swings.
2. Regularly groom your Chow for daily grooming is an easy way for your Chow to lean the pleasures of being touched. He will become accustomed to being handled.
3. Enroll your Chow to obedience classes. Although several owners feel that they can train their dogs at home themselves, the fact is that dogs that did not attend obedience class are nearly twice as likely to bite compared to those who have. If you will let your Chow attend these classes this will help develop his socialization skills and enables you to command your Chow to sit, down, down-stay or any other simple commands.
4. Put your Chow on a Workfare Program for this will reinforce your dog that you are a lead in a non-confrontational way. He will learn performing tasks and following household rules is a way of life.
5.Even if your Chow is not a puppy, crate train it. The crate will serve as a safe haven for your pet when he is tired or worried.
6. Socialize your chow with your children.
7. Avoid form playing or teaching aggressive games to your Chow. Instead do some fetch games, tricks such as giving paw and "find it" games will do.
8. If you notice that your Chow is showing some signs of aggressions, get help immediately.
