How do I straighten a warped CD?

Take it down to your local flower shop or anywhere that makes gift baskets.
They use a special high heat hair dryer type thing to tighten the wrap on gift baskets.
Buy some flowers for your wife / girlfriend / daughter and ask if they might be able to help you with a quick problem. Toss the CD down on a hard flat surface and move the heat gun over the CD in a back and forth motion. Place a heavy book (or similar flat heavy object) on the CD while it is warm to flatten it out.

Alternatively, it's hot in many parts of the country right now. Place some black construction in the sun and put the CD print side down (shiny side up). Let it sit and warm up in the sun and then place a heavy object (like a book) on top.

The last option is the oven. Using a very (very) low heat, slowly warm the CD up in the oven until it can be bent.
Remember that there are small pits and grooves in the malleable CD plastic. If distorted, the CD player will either not be able read the CD or it will skip / damage your CD player. Warming the CD gradually and letting it cool really is the key but be very careful. This could cause further damage to the data / music on the CD or worse, damage your CD player.

It wont fix the disk but if you really like it and your going to go to all this effort to fix it then you should just replace it.

M$when you did the heavy books, did you sandwich it between glass first?
and if you have done this already, then try putting it in a ziploc type bag and immersing it in 100 degree Fahrenheit water for 5 minutes, then try the glass and books again.
if it does work, it is recommended that you make a copy of it just in case it had cracks you did not see.

edit: i've been researching this for the last hour for you. i think it deserves its own how to page here...
the above methods seem to be the consensus on getting rid of the warp, however, you should try to copy it first.
try putting it in a CD/DVD writer, as those are more sensitive and might be able to read it better, then use a program like one of the following:
CD Recovery Toolbox
Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier
ddrescue for linux machines
whatever you do, make a backup copy when you can get it to read the disc.
There is a utility for linux & windows that will actually read what data IS available on the CD.
It's called DVDisaster and It will run from a live distro like slax too.
But also has a windows version too...

This is the absolute best tool I have in all of the software that I own.
And this is also free.
I also recommend installing a ISO mounter as well as GParted.
The tool will literally copy every single block of readable data on the disk and fill in the rest of the bad blocks with readable text.
Even if the CD is warped , as long as it will spin on the drive turn table this program will read it!
