You can save money on curtains in various ways. If you are looking for a low budget curtain, check out the Martha Stewart line at K-Mart. Wal-mart also has a fairly decent selection. Bed, Bath and Beyond often offers coupons for 20%, if you brought a friend shopping with you, you could use multiple coupons on one trip.
If you would like to save even more money, check out JoAnn’s fabrics. They have a whole department on home interior fabrics. They often have them on sale for 40% off retail. You can find many simple patterns if you have never sewn before, and many others if you have had some sewing experience.
I have seen linen napkins used in several ways. The simplest window treatment that I have seen involves hanging a rod above the window and just draping the linens, overlapping, over the rod. You could also use them as a cafe' curtain. Hang a tension rod inside a window and use rings on the napkins. Just slide the rings, with the napkins attached and you have a darling cafe' looking window treatment. Use the top valance idea and you have a complete, inexpensive window treatment!
