How to prevent premenstrual syndrome?

I often suffer from premenstrual syndrome or PMS where I experience emotional sensitivity and headache. The moods I can handle at least but the headache is really difficult at times. I remember this happened after I gave birth to my first baby. I usually have a throbbing headache the day before my period. What could be the reason behind this? Is there any way that I can prevent this from happening?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

PMS is can include a huge range of symptoms and can be severe or barely noticeable. It can start with your first period or be triggered by an event or trauma such as you mentioned, giving birth. It is said that changing your diet can help alleviate PMS symptoms. It is suggested to cut out caffeine and sugar and instead of eating 3 times a day, eat every few hours, smaller meals. It is said to also cut out alcohol, nicotine and white flour products.

Start exercising 3 to 4 times a week.

Drink plenty of water.

And lastly, reduce stress in your life. I have been trying to cut stress out of my life lately which is really good for a number of health reasons. I have created a zen room and try to make each room of the house as peaceful as possible. Yoga can help tremendously, as well.

Get plenty of rest and take care of you. Take time every day for yourself whether it be reading or soaking in the tub.
