you do not have to have games. sometimes, that's just lame.
there should be food and drinks, a good spread. Something like sandwiches, finger foods. Tons of ideas, you can always have it catered or rent out a large room at a restaurant.
at my friend's bridal shower I had all the women write out on a blank card their best piece of marital advice, I think collected them and made a big scrap book for the bride. Some of the best and funniest advice was collected and she still treasures this.
