This is a recipe for sausage gravy that goes well over biscuits or toast:
First you fry the sausage (about 1/2 lb) and get it well done. Break it into small pieces as you are cooking it.
Take out the sausage and put in about 3 tablespoons of chopped onion and 1-2 garlic minced garlic cloves and cook them until the onions begins to lighten in color or the garlic begins to brown.
(You can omit the onions if you wish and substitute garlic powder for the garlic, adding it towards the end of the cooking.)
Sprinkle 3 - 4 tablespoons of flour in the frying pan and mix it with the grease until it is thoroughly with the mixture and all of the sausage bits have been scraped from the bottom of the pan. Add pepper and salt in the amounts you like, a general guideline for pepper is 1/4 tsp.
Add about 1 1/2 cups of milk and stir continuously until the mixture becomes thick and creamy. Add the sausage bits to it and then it is ready to pour over either biscuits, toast or eggs for a hearty breakfast.
