How do you make a Mai Tai?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Whenever I need a drink recipe, I go right to the source: the Webtender

--quote--
Ingredients:

* 1 oz Light rum
* 1/2 oz Orgeat syrup
* 1/2 oz Triple sec
* 1 1/2 oz Sweet and sour
* 1 Cherry

Mixing instructions:

Shake all ingredients (except cherry) with ice and strain into a collins glass over several ice cubes. Top with the cherry and serve.

If you need to know what a collins glass is, go here:

This is not an authentic Mai Tai at all and it should be served in a Double Rocks glass not a Collins.

Be very sceptical of Mai Tai recipes. Its a drink that is often made very poorly. The Webtender recipe is not a good recipe!

This is a pretty good interpretation of a Trader Vic Mai Tai:
1oz Dark Rum, 1oz Light Rum, 0.5oz Triple Sec, 0.75oz Fresh Lime Juice, 0.25 Orgeat (almond syrup), 0.25oz Sugar Syrup.

Serve in a Rocks or Old Fashioned glass.
