How to grow old gracefully or - what things should be forbidden for the over 40s?

Before you go all who-harr about me being ageist, I'm definitely in this age bracket and would like an honest answer.

I read today that men over 40 look silly if they have balding hair with a ponytail ( and I couldn't agree more! ). What about 45 year old Mums in Lorna Jane crop tops?

What takes the cake as far as you're concerned? What shouldn't the older generation be wearing or doing, if anything?

Article I was reading here - http://blogs.smh.com.au/executive-style/allmenareliars/2010/11/11/letitgo.html

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

For women age 40ish I think it's time to lower the hemlines a bit (even if you do have FANTASTIC LEGS).
1. Hemlines should come to just above the knee for most skirts and dresses. However, this may depend on the physical structure of the woman (height, body shape.)
2.Crop tops may be appropriate for the beach or on a boat, provided they don't over expose the bosom.
3. Shorts should ALWAYS cover the tush.
4. A view of the top of your THONG is NOT CUTE!
5. Wear shoes that you can walk in; wobbling in platforms and stilettos will not get you the kind of attention you want!
6. Pig tails are cute on little girls not grown women
7. SPANDEX IS NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL!
8. If your teenage daughter is wearing it.. then you probably should not.

Do it all, 40 is the new 30! You can get away with anything these days. Why limit yourself because of your age. If you are starting to look out of shape than you should get back in shape. This is not like your parents era where adult hood means boring and serious. Break the rules. I find that people treat you as if you are the age you project. If you want to be treated as if you are in your late 20's than project that energy. Sure wear some youthful clothes, the problem is when you wear clothes that were popular when you where young in the 80s, you should wear what is trendy now. So get rid of the outdated Gap clothes yuck. And for sure your jeans should not be all one color. they need to have pre-worn coloration.

You can be treated as young as you want, this whole myth of acting your age is a bunch of garbage. Act how you feel not how old society tells us we are.
