How to get started with Hadoop?
I have to work on a project that involves Hadoop. I come from a traditional Unix/C/C++ background and do not have any knowledge of distributed grid computing technologies. What is the best way to get started on Hadoop? I need to start with the basics.

http://hadoop.apache.org/common/docs/current/quickstart.html Follow the quickstart, it should get you up to speed. Read through all the documentation available, and tinker with it, see what happens.
