In a calm, serious tone, ask him to explain why he won't let you get skates. Listen to him, and DO NOT get mad, don't even try to argue with him yet. Thank him for his opinion, and for looking out for you. Then do some research, and find information, or come with your own reasons that prove his arguments wrong. Create a slideshow/presentation/poster with all of this and cite any sources used. Present this to him, and explain why you really want skates. Even if he still refuses to give them to you, he will be so impressed by your maturity, that it will help you get more freedoms later.
