how to get into nursing school

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There is a Mahalo page How To Get Into Nursing School that you may find useful. Nursing programs have been ramping up over the last several years to meet the demands of our aging baby boomers. You can do a good share of the training on-line, so don't limit yourself to bricks and mortar institutions.

Obviously you will need hands on clinical training, but if there is knowledge to be gained from on-line training, why not start there.

The first step to get into any nursing school is to first zero in with the nearest reputed nursing school where you can get admitted in. Read the admission information carefully, and pay attention to what each school values most in potential students. Find out about any prerequisite courses that you may need to take before you can apply for a particular course, the ADN program, for example. Nursing school can be expensive, and you may not have enough time between classes and studying to work very many hours. Financial aid can help take care of your tuition. If you are hard working, persevering and also, dedicated to serve the society, you can surely do well in the nursing career.

In our area, there are a limited number of spaces due to classroom size and availability of teachers. There is a shortage of nursing teachers, as most of them are being nurses.

Write a good resume, cover letter, present yourself well, write up your goals, meet with the school counselors where you want to attend and talk to them. good luck!
