How to get a Plantronics 510 recognized as an audio source on my ThinkPad T61?

I want to be able to use my Plantronics 510 bluetooth headset with my laptop for Skype or as a microphone input.

I bought this exact headset:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875978036&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Bluetooth+Cell+Phone+Accessories-_-Plantronics-_-75978036

And I'm using it on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61. The bluetooth pairs and sees the device:

But the headset does not show up as an option in the Audio properties:

I've already downloaded and reinstalled the drivers from IBM's website here:

Anybody have any ideas? I just want my headset to work..... :-(
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Did your bluetooth icon in the task bar go green? Once you have paired your headset, you need to connect to it before you can use it for audio. I have the same headset and I got it working with my Dell laptop by pairing the two together and then telling my laptop to connect to the headset.

I see what you mean about the microsoft driver. From what I've seen, the microsoft driver does not include the profiles for using a bluetooth headset. Have you looked at updating your drivers?

I've been reading on a lot of forums that it has something to do with a Widcomm driver versus the microsoft ones... any ideas?

I finally got it, it was the drivers from the Lenovo site. I was downloading them and forcing windows to install, but I wasn't running the install package! What a "duh" moment. It's working fine now!

Thanks for you help

No, the bluetooth icon is still blue, but it does show that it is paired. What do you mean by "telling my laptop to connect to the headset"?

I've downloaded and installed every version they offer at the Lenovo site here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67853.html

I can't find any others to try.... I went ahead and ordered a $5 USB plug in bluetooth adapter to try that way, it just seems ridiculous with bluetooth built in to need an external adapter.

On my computer, I can double-click on the bluetooth icon in the system tray and I get a "Bluetooth Settings" window with the PLT 510. I can right-click on the PLT 510 and I get a pop-up menu that has "Connect" as the first thing on the menu. My laptop came with the Toshiba bluetooth drivers though.

Can you right-click on the PLT 510 in the Bluetooth Devices window?
