Download the dropbox app for iPad (free)
Install dropbox software on your computer. This is great because it's just like having a normal file folder, except it'll sync between your ipad and the dropbox website.
Put your pdf file(s) into the dropbox folder on your computer and wait for them to sync with the dropbox app on your iPad, then open the dropbox app and find the file you're looking for. Voila!
