How to fix PS3 yellow light of death?

Quite simply, you can't. That's not because you're not capable, but because the yellow light of death is a "... non-specific fault indicator that can be triggered in a range of different circumstances." from Sony Entertainment
If you have an older model PS3, however, it's entirely possible that the latest firmware updates have caused your PS3 to yellow light. Contacting Sony, and making sure you regularly harass them, will result in getting your PS3 upgraded to one of the newer models - but that's only if it's an older model that's been bricked by a firmware update and without seeing the console myself there's no guarantee that's the case.
For example, soldering issues can cause your PS3 to yellow light. PS3's yellow lighting is extremely rare, but a lot of users have had problems with the latest firmware update so that'd be my guess.
In order to get your PS3 fixed, you'll have to send it in to be repaired. I hope your warranty hasn't expired!
