How do I identify bedbugs? Where do they live and where should I look for them around my home and office?

How can I locate and identify bedbugs in my home and/or office? What do they look like? How can I determine if something is a bedbug as opposed to lice or other small insects or bugs? Where should I look to find bedbugs, where are common hiding or living places for these pests?

Bedbugs have been around for many years since human history. These tiny creatures have been said to have been terminated in First World Countries through the utilization of a banned chemical in the form of DDT. With the onset of the tourism boom, bedbugs have staged a comeback with detected presence in hotels, medical facilities and other known transient places.

The common trait of bedbugs comes in the form similar to or in equal size that of the apple' seed and has colors that may be red to brown, round-like and plane. In the daytime, these things tend to shelter on fissures of your bed. Aside from beds, bedbugs can be located behind wallpapers, joints of furniture upholstery and electrical outlets. Other types of bedbugs tend to feast on birds as well as bats, aside from humans.

Bed bugs are wingless critters that can range in color from white to a dark brown in color. This of course can vary depending on if the bug has taken in blood from a host.

From my understanding, you can look around and see if you can find any shedding of skins or blood drops from the bugs. However, the skins might just determine evidence of bedbugs from the past, not present. Bed bugs do not fly, so look for crawling bugs in cracks in the wall or behind headboards of the bed. You can use a flashlight. Insect all locations in and around the bed for traces of bed bugs if suspected. In curtains, linens, between mattresses and in any folds.

These bugs come out at night and feed off people and animals while they are sleeping. For this reason, the bed bugs will usually hide in or around places that people sleep (beds). The bite is painless from my understanding. When they bite, they suck a bit of blood out. In exchange, they omit a small amount of their saliva into the skin. After a few weeks of this, many people will start to break out and/or become allergic to the bites.

Bed bugs can be found at any area across the world. They travel in peoples' belongings, like luggage, furniture and mattresses.

For a visual and evidence of bed bugs, refer to the pictures.
