For about two years now I've simply not bought regular sugar. I cook with Splenda and put it in tea and other drinks. You use the same amount of the Splenda as you would regular sugar and so, measuring it out is simple. It bakes well and to be perfectly honest, I can't taste the difference. Usually, when I try a sweetener I notice a horrible after taste, but didn't find this with the Splenda.
It's even made it small packets so you can take it along with you. I keep a few packets in my purse so that when my husband and I go out to eat I have it for tea.
The above is how I have lowered the sugar in my and my family's diet.
There is also a fantastic page here on Mahalo about this very topic. I'm sure you'll find it extremely useful as well.

M$Satisfy your sweet tooth with luscious fruits. Fruit contains glucose, a secondary carbohydrate, which is released into your blood stream more slowly than refined sugar. Your blood sugar levels will not spike and crash as quickly and you'll feel more energetic during the day.
