How to download or capture and save Vimeo videos to pc?

I was wondering if it is indeed possible to download or capture and save Vimeo videos to pc. I discovered Vimeo a couple of months ago and they have some amazing videos, I would definitely love to be able to download Vimeo videos so I can transfer a couple of my favorite videos to my Blackberry. Could I find something like a Vimeo Video Downloader and Converter or just some usual usual app that can record flash videos will be enough to save Vimeo videos?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

First off, Blackberry's will not play flash video, so you will have to convert vimeo to a format that your berry will play.

The fastest and easiest way to do this involves downloading three pieces of software, all of which are free.

Grab Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Then download this plug in for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6584

Then grab the BlackBerry video converter here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Video/Blackberry-Video-Converter-27431.shtml

Download the video you want, convert using BlackBerry Video Converter, then transfer to your device. BVC will convert many formats to your BlackBerry, not just .flv, if you need any more help don't hesitate to ask me!

Thank you for the tip anthony, seems pretty interesting but unfortunately this just does not work for me because I am actually an Opera fan myself and to be honest I don't necessarily want to have several browsers installed on my pc ,and use mozilla only when I need to download and save Vimeo videos. I was rather thinking of finding some all-in-one Video Downloader and Converter that could offer me all the functions I need in one compact easy to work with user interface.

I have used with great success in the past online video conversion. I am not a fan of installing free software on my PC so instead of installing most probably two different software, one to do the download job right and one to convert the vimeo files (or any other flv videos for that matter) I am using a online service like tubeminator.com. It downloads your vimeo files and any other flash videos and it also helps you converting to the desired format respecting video and audio quality.
So, if you ask me, such an online service is always better than installing some unknown and strange third party software to convert or download. Especially if it is a hobby thing only.

I am pretty sure you don't have to get some Vimeo Video Downloader or Recorder or whatever these apps are called to download and save Vimeo videos to your pc or to convert Vimeo videos to whatever file formats you need.
I don't use Vimeo too often but if this website is similar to other streaming video websites, you can save Vimeo videos from the cache folder of your browser or the temporary files folder from your pc.
If you did not know this, I have to tell you that when you watch a video online on a ordinary streaming website, a copy of that video is saved in your browser’s cache folder. What you have to do is go to the cache folder to find and copy and save the Vimeo video to another more accessible folder.
To make it easier for you, I guess you can also use this small utility: http://mrintech.com/how-to-extract-videos-from-browser-cache
This will save you the trouble of going and finding the Vimeo video in the cache yourself.. This way you might not necessarily need a Vimeo Video Downloader.
I haven't used this trick for downloading Vimeo videos to pc so I am not 100% sure it also works for Vimeo videos, but try it yourself and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip fay, but as interesting as this method to save Vimeo videos to pc is , I think it's a bit time consuming, plus I'd still probably have to find some Vimeo Video Converter. So just hall of the problem would be solved this way.

There are also other methods for downloading and saving Vimeo videos to pc, if you're interested. If you do not want to install any apps or add-ons on your pc, than you can just use one of those online video downloader and converter websites to download, convert and save Vimeo videos to Blackberry supported file formats.

Try , for example, benderconverter for downloading and converting Vimeo videos.
This one is an online video downloader website that can be used to download and save flash videos to pc, so it might just also work for you to download, convert and save Vimeo videos for Blackberry or whatever other devices on which you want to watch your newly downloaded Vimeo videos.
It's pretty easy to use, all u have to do is paste there the link of the Vimeo video you want to save on pc, choose a format and press the button there to download and save Vimeo videos to your pc.
And that's pretty much about it.

yeah, those online video downloader websites look pretty interesting but I don't really find them that reliable. Plus, again, I really need something that is very easy to use and that doesn't require too much copy pasting from me when I need to download, save Vimeo videos.

Actually I think I might be able to help you with your problem with finding a Vimeo Video Downloader to install on your pc, I also say that installing a Video Downloader and Converter on the pc is way better than using some online video downloader website or Video Downloader add-ons. And to be honest an actual Video Downloader app seems much more reliable to me.
Now getting back to your Vimeo Video Downloader and Converter problem, you should definitely take a look at Tunebite Vimeo Video Downloader. Tunebite has a lot of features and among other things it can successfully be used to download, capture, record, save videos and movies from a lot of various online movie portals and streaming websites like Hulu, Megavideo, Dailymotion, Metacafe and other such websites.

Of course, Tunebite Vimeo Video Downloader is able to both download and convert Vimeo videos to mp4, 3gp, avi, wmv and other useful file formats, so if you need to save and transfer Vimeo videos to Blackberry and other cell phones it will definitely come in handy.

Also take a look at this tutorial on how to download Vimeo videos with the help of Tunebite Vimeo Downloader:

http://audials.com/en/how_to_record_stream_capture_music_videos_movies_from/vimeo.html

I say you should give Tunebite a spin and see if it's not the Vimeo Video Downloader and Converter app you have been looking for.

Thanks for your tip, I guess I will take a look at that Tunebite Video Downloader since you mentioned that it can both download and convert Vimeo videos for Blackberry, do hope this one is something easy to use.Tunebite actually seems rather interesting , especially the part about also being able to download, record, save videos from other streaming websites.
If it does a good job to save Vimeo videos I would really consider keeping this one. Will try Tunebite also, anyways.

Hello, guys
I' m also interested in finding out how to save Vimeo videos to pc and since you were talking about how to download, capture Vimeo videos I have another question: do you happen to know any Vimeo Video Downloader app that could actually be installed on the pc?
I prefer to use opera so that trick with the mozilla add-ons that can be used to download Vimeo videos doesn't do it for me. And I not that big of a fan of those online video downloader websites either, they don't seem that reliable to me.
So I was thinking if any of you guys is also familiar with some Vimeo Video Downloader app I could install on my pc and use for saving Vimeo videos. Would love to try it.

Well, vimeo videos are flv's as far as I know, so any flv converter would be good I guess. This applies for videos that are not directly downloadable from vimeo.
There are several good flv downloaders, but not all of them are also converters. So maybe, to do a good job you would need to separate softs. One to do the recording well and one to do the converting to other formats well. Especially if you are looking for freeware

Hello,

Here is also another idea on how to download and save Vimeo videos, not necessarily with some Vimeo Video Downloader and Converter.
First of all, this post on how to save Vimeo videos to pc will help you solve the part with downloading Vimeo videos:
http://www.crucialthought.com/2010/01/04/download-vimeo-videos-using-a-shell-script/

It's an article on how to download Vimeo videos using a shell script and instructions on how to use it.
Now, about the part with converting Vimeo videos for Blackberry, take a look here:
http://www.google.com/#h=hp&q=blackberry+video+converter&fp=bf62906be5292fd6

I noticed that there are a lot of Video converters on the web so there shouldn't be any problem to find a Vimeo to Blackberry Converter to convert your newly downloaded Vimeo videos and transfer Vimeo videos to Blackberry.
I guess the disadvantage is that you have to install two different things on your pc just to be able to download, convert and save Vimeo videos to Blackberry, so if you need to get the job done extra fast than you probably need a two in one: a Vimeo Video Downloader and Converter.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
