Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This picture is of Rhessi, a small Nasa explorer. It's listed on the Nasa website as an actual picture, so it seems to be real. There's two similar pictures there, too. I have no idea how they did it. The contact information listed on the Rhessi page is Gordon.D.Holman@nasa.gov ... it couldn't hurt to send him an e-mail and ask how they did it.

@thelastscionspeaks Though it is not a photograph, those who answered are not entirely sure that it is a graphic. Jeffhoard said it appears to be a graphic. So I choosed the best answerer as Anguilla because she gave me a email address to contact and find out exactly what it is.Thanks for your time in finding out.

When this question was posted I contacted Gordon Holman at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. He is a busy man and it took him just 4 days to reply. I thanked him very much for his time and he replied the following about the picture you have listed.

He said "Dear ******,

That picture is art work, not an actual photograph. I’m sure our graphic artists would be thrilled to know that you mistook their work for a photograph.

Gordon Holman

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center"

There is the absolute definitive answer on this topic.

Yes it appears to be a graphic illustration from the RHESSI image book.

The website where the images can be found on NASA states.
"Spacecraft drawings provided courtesy of Spectrum Astro Inc."

It was probably done with Photoshop or A.viary,or another software program that allows someone to edit graphics.
