how the hell do i get back to surface once kiling the squid thing, 2nd level i think

Have you gone through the area that the squid blocked already? Gotten the... whatever that shiney thing is called? Activated the cutscene with the jerk with the gun? You don't need to actually leave the level until you've done all that. Then it's a simple matter of following the guys with the guns. When you get the cutscene (you'll know it) you should be left on a ledge near the second level. Then it's hop, skip, and a jump (literally) to get back to the other area.
