You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The method of storing the beans (coffee) depends upon the type of beans used. That is whether it is green coffee beans, roasted coffee beans or ground coffee beans.

Green coffee beans : These have maximum shelf life. these are to stored in an air tight containers. These are fresh therefore had to be roasted and the chaffs are to be removed .
Whole roasted beans: these can be stored in airtight containers that is not clear glass ,but storing in Ceremic containers are the best.If storage is required for a longer period a
airtight canister containers or zip-lock bag works good.Tastes good when roasted a couple of days before and grind just before brewing.
Ground coffee beans Should be kept in airtight containers and kept in room temperature.

Pinto beans can be stored in food grade plastic buckets with gasketed lids, foil pouches, canning jars with lids.
IF buckets are used:
Place one ounce of dry ice per gallon capacity at the bottom of the bucket. Then fill the buckets with beans to within one inch of the top and place the lid on top but not completely closed till the dry ice dissipated. When the bucket begins to feel warm seal it. If bulging of the bucket is noticed release it.
If foil pouches are used:
Fill 80 percent of the foil with the beans and seal it with an impulse heat sealer.
If canning jars are used:
Fill it with 90 percent of the beans and check for the condition of the gasket of the lid and seal tightly.
All the containers should be clean and dry.Theym are to be stored in dry places away from the floor.
