Jazz as a genre is still popular, but not as much as in the 1930s. There is still the annual Montreal Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. There are other jazz festivals around the United States and Canada. Overseas, such as in Europe, people listen to more eurobeat than jazz. Only during the holiday season in December are jazz oriented songs heard. Jazz is still popular, but not nearly as much as it was even ten years ago. Think of Diana Krall. You hardly even hear about her anymore as even five years ago, when jazz as a music form was more in the mainstream. Earlier in 2010 several jazz clubs and bars had to close in the Chicago area due to lack of patronage.
